Spring Fever

We’ve all heard that phrase… Spring Fever. Being in Florida, however, impedes the abilities to see past the pollen hanging in the air while the oak trees have their way with us.

I can remember when we lived in Pennsylvania, how exciting it was to see the first stems of the daffodils and crocuses peek through the snow. The feel of sunshine on your face after a long bout of chilly temperatures and gray skies. There’s just something remarkable about those feelings that embody fresh and new.

Spring fever has kind of taken over a little here in my home studio. I’ve been working on new techniques, trying new ceramic mediums and continuing to solidify the inventory we carry. The biggest transition so far has been the use of color. Now, I do enjoy the challenges that come with creating and mixing your own glazes, which I currently do. In my testing, I have added Amaco velvet underglazes to my mix of things and I’ve been very happy with the results.

The plan here is to tromp through March like a lion and create, throw and make; fire, glaze and fire again.

In the meantime, take your allergy pills of the oak trees deem it and enjoy the sunshine.

M 🙂

P.S. Here are some items I’ve been working on.. including a new stamp.. OWL EYES!
